The woman I wanted to become

Where do I take inspiration from? What has the women I wanted to become to do with my paintings? I explain it in this episode!

Stories from within

Driving through countryside, swimming in the sea, being on the beach or an almond tree in a full bloom – is all what is needed to bring me into my studio in from of empty canvas! I paint out of excitement, joy and happiness. Everything that thrills me or delights me triggers the desire to paint.

My Inspiration

My art is largely inspired by experiences and places. Something as simple as driving through countryside, swimming in the sea, being on the beach or an almond tree in a full bloom motivates me to go to the studio in front of a blank canvas and I’m ready to create.

I paint out of excitement, joy and happiness

Everything that thrills me or delights me triggers the desire to paint. I very rarely paint when I’m sad or feel anything but positive about life. You could call my art portraits of the soul or stories from within.

Dreams and desires

Another part of inspiration comes from my dreams and desires. When I alayzed all the creation that I made in the past 5 years they sort of tell a story of the woman I wanted to become. The woman that wanted to become a painter. A strong woman that is also tender and loving at the same time. Independent but also caring! Following my own path and staying true to myself, going against the crowd, being very respectful towards the society and the rules that are there and being part of the community.

Contrast

All this contrast – strong but tender, independent but carrying are well present in my paintings. I achieve that by contrasting thick and thin lines, by balancing texture with smooth surfaces, dark and light.

These are my sources of inspiration, can you relate? What lights you up? What inspires or excites you in life the most? Let’s share our inspirations, I’d really love to hear from you! 🙂
