bio
Wiktoria Florek is a Polish contemporary abstract painter based near Barcelona, working at the intersection of chromatic tension, material accumulation, and perceptual instability.
Her practice explores the threshold where control begins to fail. Through layered chromatic structures, dense impasto surfaces, graphite interruptions, fluorescent pigments, and linear incursions, she constructs paintings that function less as compositions and more as systems of force. Rather than depicting narrative space, her works generate fields of perceptual pressure in which order and disruption remain in continuous negotiation.
Developed through her evolving methodology of Stratified Chromatic Fields™, Florek’s paintings investigate the physical and psychological intensity of contemporary perception — balancing compression and exposure, precision and rupture, control and instability.
Her process is deeply physical. Canvases move continuously between wall and floor, while gesture is treated not as spontaneous expression, but as material force subjected to editing, resistance, and structural discipline. Layers accumulate as physical weight, producing surfaces that resist visual equilibrium and sustain active tension.
Florek studied classical drawing, anatomy, and tonal construction at the Barcelona Academy of Art, foundations that continue to inform the structural logic of her abstract language. Her work has been presented internationally, including appearances connected to the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, Barcelona International Art Fair, and Koelner Liste in Cologne. Her paintings are held in private and corporate collections across Europe.
She currently lives and works in Sabadell, near Barcelona.
